IF YOU LIKED · ANIME
If you liked Jujutsu Kaisen
Eight picks for after Jujutsu Kaisen, from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Chainsaw Man to Hunter x Hunter, Dorohedoro, Everything Everywhere All at Once and Devil May Cry 5.
Jujutsu Kaisen became one of the biggest anime of the decade with a simple formula done extremely well. Fights where powers follow clear rules and the smartest use of a technique wins, a dark world where curses come from human fear and heroes die, and characters like Gojo who are impossible not to love.
Whether you want more of the same, the older series JJK grew from, or something to play while you wait for the next season, these picks start with its own prequel.

THE PICKS
8 things to try next

01 / Anime · 2021
Jujutsu Kaisen 0
Matches: A dark world
A year before Yuji Itadori arrives, a bullied boy haunted by the curse of his childhood friend is brought to Jujutsu High by Gojo.
The prequel film is the natural next step. It introduces Yuta Okkotsu, who becomes important later, gives Gojo some of his best scenes and shows what happened in the year before the series. It is a complete story in under two hours.
It works best after the first season of the series.
02 / Anime · 2022
Chainsaw Man
Matches: A dark world
A poor young man merges with his pet chainsaw devil and becomes a government devil hunter, hoping for a normal life and some decent food.
Chainsaw Man is from the same studio, MAPPA, and the same era of dark, unpredictable shonen. It is even bloodier and stranger than JJK, with a deadpan sense of humor and a sinister boss whose motives you will spend all season guessing.
Extremely violent, crude and sexual. The first season covers only the start of the story.
03 / Anime · 2011
Hunter x Hunter
Matches: Clever power systems
A boy sets out to become a Hunter and find his missing father, and learns Nen, a power system with famously strict rules and costs.
Hunter x Hunter's Nen is the blueprint for JJK's cursed techniques, from abilities with conditions to strategies that count for more than strength. Its Chimera Ant arc is as dark as anything in JJK.
The tone shifts a lot between arcs, and the anime stops partway through the manga's story.
04 / Anime · 1992
Yu Yu Hakusho
Matches: Stylish action
A teenage delinquent dies saving a child, comes back as a spirit detective and fights demons with a crew of rivals turned friends.
Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, who later made Hunter x Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho is the classic whose structure JJK follows: a young hero with a ghostly power, a tournament arc and a cast of rivals. It shows where many of today's shonen ideas came from.
Its 1990s animation and pacing are slower than modern series.
05 / Anime · 2019
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Matches: Stylish action
After demons kill his family and turn his sister into one of them, a kind young man trains to become a demon slayer.
If JJK's fight animation is what you love, Demon Slayer's studio, ufotable, is famous for some of the most spectacular battles in anime. It shares JJK's mix of horror and found family, but it is more earnest and its hero is gentler.
The story is simpler than JJK's, and some arcs continue in films.
06 / Anime · 2020
Dorohedoro
Matches: A dark world
A man with a lizard's head and no memory hunts the sorcerers who did this to him, in a grimy city where magic is a weapon.
Dorohedoro is the weird, grungy cousin of JJK, also animated by MAPPA. Its world is just as violent, but strangely cozy, with villains you end up liking as much as the heroes. It is perfect if you liked JJK's humor between the gore.
Only 12 episodes so far, which cover just part of the manga's story.
07 / Movie · 2022 · Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert
Everything Everywhere All at Once
Matches: Clever power systems
A laundromat owner in the middle of a tax audit learns she can borrow skills from versions of herself in other universes, if she does something absurd first.
Its powers follow a rule as strange and specific as any cursed technique: to jump between universes you have to do something wildly unlikely, so the fights are won by whoever thinks of the weirdest move. The martial arts choreography is superb, and under the chaos is a story about a mother and daughter.
Deliberately chaotic and very silly in places; the family drama is the real point.
08 / Video game · 2019
Devil May Cry 5
Matches: Stylish action
Three demon hunters fight their way through a city overrun by a demonic tree, each with a completely different, stylish fighting style.
Devil May Cry 5 is the closest a game comes to JJK's fights. It rewards creativity and style with a rank that climbs as you vary your attacks. Its swaggering heroes, especially Dante, would feel at home next to Gojo.
Its story is thin and assumes some knowledge of the series, and the combat takes practice to master.
Where to start
Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0 first. If you want the next big thing, try Chainsaw Man. If you want the series that inspired JJK's power system, Hunter x Hunter.
Whatever you pick, give it a fair start: the first half hour of a film, two episodes of a show, the opening chapters of a book or the first hour of a game. Then decide.
How we chose
Prepared by OmniTrackr and reviewed by the site owner before publishing. We started from what makes Jujutsu Kaisen work for the people who love it, then looked for titles that share at least one of those qualities, deliberately across formats, because a game or a book can carry the same feeling in a different way. Facts were checked against public sources; the comparisons and caveats are editorial opinion.
These picks are not rankings, sponsored placements or anyone's private ratings. Running times, episode counts and availability vary by edition and region. Links go to OmniTrackr title pages, not shops.
